The air was crisp, very chilly even for January. Lavender was dressed warmly in a pair of blue jeans and an orange sweater under her thick coat. Her curly hair would have probably been enough to keep her head warm, but her locks were secured down by a black hat anyway, pigtails resting over each shoulder. It was a Hogsmeade weekend and while Lavender Brown was excited, she wasn't fond of freezing her toes and fingers off. The school nurse probably could have taken care of an injury like that in about two seconds, but the blonde Gryffindor girl thought that it would probably hurt during the time it took to get from the path to Hogsmeade back to the castle where the nurse would be. It wasn't too long of a journey, but it was still quite a walk. Lavender was a bit of an attention seeker, but she wasn't a big fan of pain.
There wasn't any snow on the ground, but there might as well have been. Lavender shivered almost the entire trip despite the way she was dressed. It was a massive relief when she finally got to the town. The girl was supposed to meet up with Parvati, but her friend had told her to go without her for the moment and meet her later. Normally Lavender wouldn't have come down here alone, but she was anxious to get out of the castle.
The first thing she did when she got into town was hop into the supply store. She needed to get some more parchment. But once she had that the store bored her and she was ready to head off. So she put the money on the counter and with her parchment in a bag, set off to The Three Broomsticks. There were always people in there, so it was a safe place to find something to do or someone to talk to. She ordered a butterbear and sat down at an empty table, waiting for anyone she knew, or for anyone else to sit down next to her.
