ROLEPLAY SAMPLE It had been a week since her mother had died. It had been a horrible incident- Luna was still very sad about it, though she wasn't usually one to dwell on negative emotions. She and her father had cried a lot during the funeral, but they had agreed that crying could be a good thing, and that her mother would not have wanted them to bottle up their pain. It was good to express one's emotions, but it was also good to move on, and not to dwell on things for too long.
She sat by her father now, kneeling in front of the grave, and she was surprised to feel a small tear drip from one of her eyes and onto the bouquet of dirigible plums that her father had carefully picked and charmed into a circular wreath earlier. It had been set just below the words on the gravestone, floating an inch or so above the ground. It was beautiful- her mother had always loved the dirigible plums growing in a bush outside their home. She'd taken pride in how well she had taken care of them... Luna would make sure to do the plums justice now that her mother could no longer take care of them.
Luna felt a rough, warm finger caress her cheek, and she looked up to see her father looking at her with a small smile, tears in his eyes as well. He was wiping the tears from her eyes. Luna offered him her own smile, and took his hand as they stood up and backed away from the grave. "Do you think she's watching us now, Daddy?" she asked, looking up at her father questioningly. He nodded, breaking the gaze between them to look back at the grave one last time before they began to walk back to their house, hand in hand.
"I don't think so. I know so. She loves us, Luna- she loves you. She'll take care of us. We'll take care of each other. We'll be all right, Luna." he answered her softly. Luna nodded, her small smile growing a bit, and the tears stopping momentarily.
"I'm so glad." said the girl. One last tear fell to the grass, and she cried no more. She couldn't dwell on it and she wouldn't- her mother wouldn't have wanted it that way, and neither did she. Besides, if she kept crying like that, she'd drown the dirigible plums.
