Okay, so there wasn't a lot of logic in telling Rose to shut up and then getting uncomfortable with the silence and going off on a tangent. He'd used up all his brilliant ideas for the day, clearly, and the only reason this whole thing went anywhere is because Fred managed to clarify. He glanced back at his mate when Fred said he was going to fill Rose in on what happened as if to say 'really?', but the two of them were clearly on the same page again. Normally, no matter how ridiculous their stories were, they were just ridiculous enough to happen. But this one.. this was one just ridiculous. And he knew Rose wasn't going to buy it. Hell, Rose was arguing their actual story. Well, as much as she was going to get out of them anyway. Lee just stopped himself from snapping at her again (and face palming) at her accusation, because.. well.. she was kind of doing them a favor.
Who needs to think of good cover stories when they have much-nicer-than-what-actually-happened accusations? The fact Rose went from 'im about to cry' to 'i cant believe we're not tree surfing together' was definitely a bit weird (and when i say 'a bit weird', I mean 'if Lee wasn't trying not to obtain any more injuries he'd ask her if she was PMSing'), and she was still yelling at them, but at least they didn't have to tell her. He gave Fred a look. It'd be really nice if they could like, discuss this or something. But that wasn't an option. He'd have to just roll with it.. LIke that hadn't caused any damage. "Yeah, you caught us. We were working on coming up with an extreme sport to one up you. We'd have told you if it was successful. It wasn't. So can we just drop it?"
ooc: this is a third paragraph. it's invisible. it's really awesome though. just thought you guys might wanna know

Okay, the first time Rose got all annoyed with Fred’s story, that was expected. Not only was it the most pathetic attempt at a lie ever (like.. a failure on the lying scale of Vincent Dorée to ten..) but it was also said in the most obviously uncomfortable tone ever to escape Fred’s lips. He hadn’t been in the mood to come up with some huge and extravagant lie, so he didn’t really give it much effort. However, when Rose flipped out after he had actually told the truth (vague..but truth nonetheless), he really didn’t know what to say. He wasn’t used to the truth not being believable to others, because normally, it was just crazy enough for people to buy, coming from Fred and Lee. It was also annoying because Fred didn’t really want to defend his case and try to get Rose to believe him, because he didn’t want her to know what happened. She’d keep bugging them until she believed she knew everything, so it was going to be a long night.
It didn’t take long for Lee to jump in with the perfect response. Fred returned a look of appreciation to his friend as he realized what he had done. He had practically taken Rose’s words right from her mouth, and he barely even had to think up anything on his own. Fred hadn’t caught that from Rose’s rant because he was too distracted by how pissed off she sounded. It was the perfect story because it sounded likely. You wouldn’t have wanted to try anyway. Like Lee said, it didn’t work. I mean..look at him. Got pretty scraped up there. Damn trees.. This time as he spoke, he sounded far more convincing than the first. We’d have been jerks if we had risked letting you try before we knew how dangerous it was. So.. I think dropping it is a good idea.

See, the problem with Rose (one of the many, many problems) would be that she couldn't just 'drop it'. It would not be a likely predicament for Rose to drop anything at anytime unless the phrase was meant literally and one was referring to a book or some other random object that she may be holding at the time, because if one were to startle her, it would be extremely likely for her to drop such a thing in that sense. Otherwise? Not so much.
That was why when Lee asked her to 'drop it' she would hardly do such a thing. Besides, now she was just mad! Not even mad but like, furious. How dare they not only refrain from inviting her to a new extreme sport, but also try to one up her? And then when they thought it didn't work or it was 'too dangerous' they just quit? How lame could they possibly get? It was those qualities that made such games fun after all! Like tree surfing, that was terrifying and dangerous but that's why it was so fun! "No I most certainly will not drop it!" she said, highly affronted at the suggestion made by both her friends.
"Something that dangerous and exciting should be explored further and not abandoned! You're jerks for not bringing me in on the fun! You guys are assholes." she fumed, just ranting at this point and not much more- nothing constructive was coming out of her anyway. How could they leave her out of something so fun? She could have made it work, they should know that by now! Obviously they didn't for whatever reason, though, as they were trying to one-up her. As if that could happen if they were too scared to even follow through!

Of all the cover stories imaginable (or, you know, the ones they weren't able to think of) this was probably the one most unlikely to have actually happened. How Rose even believed it, knowing them as well as she did.. well, it probably had a lot to do with the fact that she came up with the idea herself. Of course, whether they told her they were tree surfing, go kart racing, or trying not to get killed by death eaters, Rose was going to have something to say about it. And it was probably going to be in the same loud, annoying, clearly disapproving of them tone. With that in mind, arguing.. just didn't seem worth it.
"Look, ah, there's your kind of oh-that-was-so-cool-but-there's-about-a-hundred-kinks-like-you-can-die-but-oh-well-we'll-just-try-again-tomorrow and then theres.. that wasn't even fun. This? That wasn't even fun." Okay, so that probably wasn't going to be willing any articulation awards in the near future, but given the situation, Lee thought it was a pretty decent attempt at trying to appease Rose while.. well, that was a formidable enough task as is. But not making things up was a bonus. "Now would you stop yelling at us. We didn't do anything." Really. She was so PMSing. The issue was getting dropped though. She didn't have a choice about it.
