ROLEPLAY SAMPLE
Lee kind of got the look Vincent was giving him (it was a pretty blunt seriously?) but he didn't really think it was warranted (like he said- not exactly curriculum stuff going on here. So what he didn't get it?), and frankly had Fred not jumped in he probably would have told the younger Gryffindor that to his face. As it was, he just got in a "You have a problem Vince?" before they moved on to butterbeer with the Death Eaters (Sounds like a treat, huh?) Fred seemed to be using this experience to turn things around on the werewolf-kid and remind him just how much they weren't friends- and he was willing to bet those five galleons he didn't give up that they wouldn't be any time in the near (or distant) future.
He laughed a little when Vincent said Umbridge must have been making up a new rule every week. Seemed more like every day, but he was known to exaggerate a bit. Suddenly the lights went on. (You know, mental lights.) He turned a bit to Fred, although he was still talking clearly to both of them (Whispering was a foreign language to Lee anyway). "You know what would be great?" Seriously, he could NOT believe they hadn't thought this up sooner. "If for every educational decree Toad-face made up we made an "un-educational decree"" he quoted his fingers, "We could put them on the opposite wall - They'd apply to only her, of course - find some way to keep her from taking them down or figuring out we did it." Hey, while Umbridge had told him that he wasn't in the right to speak out against her rules and regulations- she hadn't said anything about written word. Loopholes. Rocked.
Fred went ahead and elaborated about on his other statement (using his hair as a means of sampling "real magic", much to his amusement) and as exaggerated and funny as it was, he had a point- a really good one. They'd had six years of REAL DADA- so Lee wasn't totally worried about them, in the situation they got into trouble (or Vincent. since it seemed he was bound to end up on the Dark Arts side anyway)- but the younger years? That's why they needed to run the Ministry out. This stuff was important and unlike a whole lot of other things- you couldn't just wing it. "I'd like to see the Aurors in the Ministry do that- you know. Then say it's totally practical." The hypocracy was almost funny.
At first Lee had been the only one seeming a little off put at the whole Fred and Vincent agreeing thing. Once he brought it to their attention though- then they had something to agree on (Which actually was a contradictory point... making them agree...again...on not agreeing..What?). He tilted his head a bit towards Fred and flashed him a half-grin (mostly appreciation) when he elbowed him. Fred didn't seem too happy (one day Lee needed to sit him down and explain just how much of a walking contradiction he was all year, throwing everything out of whack) but the subject was dropped. Sometime in the future- he'd owe the Weasley for that. "Of course you don't. That never happened," he assured.
Lee disengaged a bit from the conversation after that as it veered back on course (Now he'd come to terms with the fact werewolves were real and he's decided he wasn't going to be asking questions. He was still a bit interested, but the paying attention part of his brain was bored and everything in a two mile radius suddenly seemed more interesting. Much like Fred he was twirling his wand around and manipulating some further away trees, and he might have, "accidentally" dropped a handful of leaves on Vincent's head "You really should come out here for fun some time. At least, don't knock it till you've tried it.") but was hooked when Fred started saying that the three of them (Fred, George, and himself) were capable of trusting Vincent (WHO are you and WHAT have you done to the real Fred Weasley?) It made more sense once he listened to the rest of the explanation.. but still. For all it was irony, while Fred was developing some freaky mutual understanding with the boy, Lee felt the need to crack a joke/insult/not exactly nice thing to say at his expence. "Aaaand if Vince's lying skills remain what they are, then we're doomed to pack our bags shortly. I think we ought to go start enjoying our last day." he wasn't REALLY insulting him for it. Some people just sucked at things. (Like if their lives depended on him being quiet- or Fred not contradicting himself) But guy with lying stills this bad you did NOT want in possession of information that could get you expelled.
